Stay With Me, I Do Have A Point

Cross-posted at Alabama Improper

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usPeople have become too thin skinned lately and it's weakening our unity as a country.

For example, this knee-jerk reaction of calling for someone's resignation is getting so out of hand, and old. It has lost its shock value. It has become the American norm. Everyone is doing it now, seems to be the theme with the sensitive Democrats and "boo hoo it's not my fault blame someone else cause I don't believe in personal responsibility" cry baby liberals.

You know exactly what I'm talking about here. Do you think this "all inclusive, open arms, don't piss off the enemy" shit flew worth a damn back in the World War I or II era? No. In my little opinion I think it started back in the Vietnam era. Hippies, that's who, and all their peace and love crap. Yes, we survived it, barely. But ask a soldier from the Vietnam era if he's over all that protesting. But I digress (that's another post for another time)

OK, back to the calling for someone's resignation topic. Listen, people make mistakes. If you want a perfect world then you are living in the wrong dimension. We are human. Do you know a lot of famous, and good, people in American history failed countless times before they got it right?

Let's take a look for a moment what it may look like if we had called for the resignation of, oh let's say Abraham Lincoln, shall we? His sole purpose as President was to save the Union, at any cost. He didn't give a rat's ass about slavery; whether it was abolished or not. An excerpt from a letter written to Horace Greeley, editor of the New York Tribune, tells us so;

...If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.

...I shall try to correct errors when shown to be errors; and I shall adopt new views so fast as they shall appear to be true views.

Was he mistaken to say such things about slavery? Does it matter now?

And what about Martin Luther King, Jr.? I'm sure you all have heard the rumors of his plagiarizing speeches (and his college papers), or his ties to communist organizations. Whether any of these are true or not I do not know but they sure have been talked about a lot out there.

What would it be like today if someone insisted on havng these two mens' resignation?

Of course, now that I think about it, both of these are bad examples because two assassins sure enough did call for President Lincoln's and Reverend Luther's resignations, now didn't they? And I am not saying that lightly; it is no laughing matter - murder.

You are smart readers. You know what the point of my little rant was all about.

But if we are going to continue in this fashion, calling for someone's resignation at the drop of a hat, then I have a few of my own I'd like to call down; just to name a few:

All the lawyers for the ACLU - you know, cause they are supposed to protect and/or defend AMERICAN civil liberties, remember that?

The whole New York Times staff, oh hell, let's just do all the MSM shall we? Especially the ones who are successful at making big shit out of little turds.

Hollywood's numbnuts, dumbasses, and imbeciles.

This rant stems from reading the story of the tunnel tiles that fell on unsuspecting victims; killing a woman and the players involved thumping their chests for the media. Look people, sometimes freak accidents are just that - freak accidents. I feel bad for the family of the woman killed, really I do, and sure, someone should eventually be held accountable. But do we have to go to the extent of charging someone with murder?

BOSTON - At least 12 tons of concrete collapsed onto a passing car in a Big Dig tunnel, fatally crushing a newlywed and prompting renewed scrutiny of the costliest highway project in U.S. history, including a call Tuesday to treat the site as a crime scene that could lead to charges of negligent homicide.

The attorney general’s office already has begun issuing subpoenas to those involved in the design, manufacturing, testing, construction and oversight of the panels and tunnel.

"What we are looking at is anyone who had anything to do with what happened last night," Massachusetts Attorney General Tom Reilly said. "No one is going to be spared."

I'm pretty sure that the construction workers on site didn't wake up that morning thinking, "let's do a shitty job and kill someone."

I know I was all over the place with this one. My apologies, sort of. You get my point one way or another, I'm sure.

Now go on get, I've got some knitting to do.
